My first actual product review, you might ask why am I reviewing this item? Am I promoting this item? Not at all, I am just highlighting the importance of what you need to take notice when purchasing a high-chair for your little one. Do I recommend CAM as a brand, definitely as 95% of the parts are all manufactured in Europe and not in low-cost manufacturing countries were the parts are done via cheap labour. Anyway, today’s product I will review is the CAM Istante, which is a high-chair to be used for newborns up till 3 years of age. I am quite sure that you will find this review useful as a lot of high-chairs nowadays are very similar to each other, but then it’s up to your preference which suits best to your actuals needs and style.
The CAM Istante is made in Italy and is officially distributed in Malta by Nursery Direct and what CAM tried to do with this design is to combine a chair for not only to be used for eating/feeding your baby but also integrate playtime whilst having your mind at ease that your baby is fastly secure with a 5-point safety harness.
Some high-chairs have can also have this feature of a toy bar, but what makes it stand out is the 2 trays you can change when your baby is eating and instead of always washing it after the feed, now you can easily just remove the first tray and resume playtime for your baby with no hassle of cleaning the tray immediately.
Being that most of the product is done in-house and in Italy, CAM take pride in their products and therefore they made sure the material they use is not artificial, but a soft faux leather cover, which can be easily removed and washed. Having said this, when you are looking for a baby product always check the material, as a synthetic material can cause allergies and unnecessary sweat.
Another factor which in my opinion is crucial is the number of adjustable modes your high-chair can do, why you might ask? Very simple, as the more modes you have the more flexibility and comfort for your child. The CAM Istante has:
- 4 backrest positions which are easy to maintain with one hand and 8 height point adjustments
- An adjustable footrest in 3 heights and lengths
You might be asking, all of this must have a con, right? Yes, in my opinion for a high-chair it’s heavy and bulky, but these type of chairs tend to be safer and sturdier so you have that fear that your baby makes a sudden move and falls. CAM tried to suit the bulky stature, by introducing rear castors, compact folding and a freestanding to keep steady when storing.
To sum up today’s review:
- Ages: 0-36 Months
- Sizes – W=56 D=80 H-106CM
- Folded – W=56 D=35 H=99.5CM
- Weight 11.3KGS
Disadvantages:
- Bulky
- Heavy
Advantages:
- Several Adjustable heights and positions
- Removable Trays
- Sturdy and safe
- Good Quality Material
- Washable Material
- Easily Stored and compact
With this review, I hope this made you think twice before buying your very own high-chair? Always keep in mind that the better the product the longer it will stay and let’s face it when your child outgrows, you can use it with your next child or better yet sell it 😉 Later on this week I will review CAM’s very own SMARTY POP which can also be used a chair, but has a slightly different use, tune in next time for the Maltese Daddy Recommends.
