It’s here Father’s Day, the day were all fathers are praised for being there for their children, but what does father’s day actually mean to dads?
I for one am a new father and I have to say, it has been an amazing and overwhelming journey as trust me it’s not an easy job. Thankfully my wife and I are doing a great job in parenthood, but today I will speak about the beauty of fatherhood from a dad’s perspective.
Fatherhood was actually very scary for me I was petrified by the idea of having a daughter and wife depend on me, but actually that emotion of being scared helped me be ready to become a father. Strange right? But lets state the obvious, lets take an example when you go for an exam or interview you don’t know what to expect, right? Then you go there and do well as you were mentally prepared for the unexpected and that’s how fatherhood works. Being scared helped me see what my child wants, love, care and being a rock for her. In my opinion fatherhood is like a bicycle as you need two wheels to ride it and the two wheels are a father and a mother. So by far it will be more difficult to be a father without the other wheel.
Research has shown that fathers play an important role in their children’s emotional, social, physical and brain development. If you’re an influential father when your child is at a young age it will influence them right through to their adult life. As quoted by pregnancy birth baby.
“Children need close, stable relationships with both parents. They do better when fathers spend time with them and interact with them in a positive way. Fathers can help their child’s development through play, by being a good role model, and by being warm, loving and engaged. Even if you’re not the biological father of a child, being a father figure who gives them love, support and involvement will ensure they do better as they grow up.”
A message to my Father!
Becoming a father is easy, but being a dad is difficult, but the process for me becoming a dad was slightly easier as I had two amazing role models, my father and my father-in-law 🙌 So from here, I would like to wish a Happy Father’s day to my dad and father-in-law. Dads. You have given me the best things in life: Your time, your care, and your love. I am truly grateful to have you in my life. To my dad thanks for acting like a kid when I was a kid, acting like a friend when I needed a friend, and acting like a parent when I needed one. You are the best man I know. Happy Father Day to both of you!
